The Farmer Foot Drum was first conceived while I was
listening to John Lee Hooker in the woodshop. In some of his songs you
can hear his feet tapping wonderful rhythmic beats that accompany his
guitar and voice - it's as if he had a drummer playing right next to
him. Wanting to do the same, but with a more full and rounded drum kit
sound, I went into my woodshed and worked away on an idea. Four years
and 3 prototypes later, the first production model Farmer Foot Drum is
finished with sound, durability, & portability as the guiding principles
in design and construction. So pull up a chair & accompany yourself with
drum kit beats.
I graduated from The University of Washington in 1997
and was formerly a professional student who earned two graduate degrees,
one in History and another in Education.
I currently work with
the High School in Ferndale as a counseler who specializes in getting
first generation college students into post secondary education.
My favorite instruments of distraction are: homemade
lap steels, a Beard lap steel Dobro, a 1946 Richenbacker lap steel, a
cedar top Art Lutherie parlor guitar, a Goldtone banjo, harmonicas, and
a bunch of 1930-1950s student guitars.
